Donate Funds

The Foothills Food Bank relies on regular financial donations to supply hundreds of Foothills individuals and families with nutritious groceries every week.

This year, more families are depending on our food bank than ever before. Yet product intake streams through grocery rescue, the government's TEFAP program, and our partnerships with Food Lifeline and Northwest Harvest have steadily declined. As a result, the amount of food we must purchase has increased by over 1000%.

Your donations are critical to enable us to continue providing high quality food to our community’s most vulnerable members—via our food bank, via delivery to home bound individuals, and to school children during Winter and Spring breaks when they are without a school lunch program.

Please consider donating generously. Our non-profit status not only allows you to write off your gift, it allows us to bulk-purchase food at a much lower cost than the grocery store—effectively stretching your dollars to feed local families.

Recurring monthly donations make the most difference.

Having steady donations that we can rely on makes a huge difference. If every community member donated just $5 a month—the cost of an average latte—we could meet our community’s need!

Volunteer FAQs

  • Where do volunteers park?
You’re welcome to park anywhere in our parking lot. Please avoid blocking the driveways adjacent to our building and the Resource Center at the far end of the parking lot.
  • Where do I go once I arrive?
Enter through the single door, facing the parking lot, at the West end of the building adjacent to the garden. Please sign in with your first and last name, date, and time in, please do not forget to sign out by writing the time next to your sign-in spot before you leave. Wash your hands and feel free to have a cup of coffee before gathering in the Distribution Room.
  • Where can I put my personal belongings?
We have lockers in the volunteer room. You are responsible for keeping up with your key. We’re a trustworthy bunch but we cannot be liable for your personal belongings.
  • Where can I eat?
You may eat any snacks or lunches in the volunteer room. We ask that all “open” beverage containers be left in the volunteer room to avoid spills. Plastic/reusable drink bottles can be kept elsewhere in the building.
  • Can I shop for groceries too?
Volunteers are welcome to utilize the food bank. We ask that you sign up and log your visit like every other shopper. We also ask that you respect our established limits within reason and refrain from shopping through anything that isn’t on the distribution floor. Opening cases of product in the sorting room or warehouse poses a hazard to staff and warehouse volunteers, and skews our inventory counts that ensure we have enough product each week. If you volunteer more than once per week, we ask that you only shop once per week.
  • Can I get proof of my volunteer time?
Have your proof of participation sheet from your school/job etc. filled out and drop it off to a staff member. You may request an official embossed FFB Hours Letter from staff after your shift. For hours verification questions or requests, please contact darrylhirschkorn@foothillsfoodbank.org.
  • What is expected of me as a volunteer?
Upholding commitments to your position, and informing Staff with as much notice as possible of your absence so we may call in a replacement for the crucial role you fill. Treating shoppers, staff, and other volunteers with respect and dignity. Uphold the mission and values of Foothills Food Bank. Perform duties in a way that poses no harm to yourself or others. Notify staff immediately of any situation that could be deemed unsafe or unsanitary. Keep all interactions with guests at the food bank strictly confidential. Have fun!
  • What can I expect from Foothills Food Bank as a volunteer?
To be treated with respect and dignity by all staff and volunteers. To never be expected to perform any duty which you personally deem unsafe or beyond your physical ability. To be supported in your role with coaching and direction. There are no silly questions!
